Caris DeGannes has taken another important step in her political journey as the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for St. Mark in Grenada's November 5, 2026 General Election.
Nomination Day, held on Thursday, October 15, marked a significant milestone in the electoral process, as candidates across Grenada formally presented themselves to contest the country's 15 parliamentary seats.
For DeGannes, an educator and former Acting Principal of St. Mark's Secondary School, the election campaign provides an opportunity to bring her experience in education and community engagement into national representation.
Her campaign has focused on accessible leadership, stronger community participation and a development agenda shaped by the people of St. Mark.
Central to that agenda is The People's Manifesto, developed following six community consultation sessions involving 212 residents and identifying 266 priorities.
The manifesto outlines seven pillars for the constituency, including improved healthcare and emergency services, safer roads, investment in fishing and agriculture, opportunities for young people, tourism development and stronger community institutions.
A key feature of DeGannes's proposed approach to representation is continued engagement with residents through village representative sessions, regular town hall meetings and public reporting on manifesto commitments.
Her vision is for St. Mark to realise more of its economic, cultural and community potential, with development reaching residents across the constituency.
"A parish living at the full scale of its potential — impossible to overlook."
As Grenada approaches the November 5 General Election, DeGannes will continue presenting her plans and engaging residents on the priorities outlined in the People's Manifesto.
